Personally, I was taught to launder the swab every 4-6 weeks as it can become pretty nasty over fourth dimension. I use soap and some water--although I've heard some use liquid dish soap. (If that matters to y'all)

I wash mine every calendar week or 2.

I've done mine one time in the past ix months I've had information technology. I usually have problems with it not drying out fully though.

You can hand wash it in the sink. Use the same process for whatever other silk (exist aware of recommended temperature) and then let it air dry out. Or get a fine mesh bad to put information technology in (prevent the string from catching on anything), prepare to fragile and dry on lowest heat setting.

Depends how oftentimes you play and how much water is in the clarinet. I merely paw wash in the sink and it's dry out in a few hours.
And so similar in one case a week, have a lilliputian soap and warm water in the sink to wash it. Let it dry out overnight and it'll be set again the next morning.

I use (diluted!) hippie soap and launder information technology in just-warm (wrist temperature - aforementioned every bit for a baby) h2o. Squeeze out the water and drape it over a dry towel. It will exist nearly dry out in a few hours.
Be forewarned, the Hodge silk swabs oasis't had their dyes set, then the beginning time you wash one, it will color the water the color of the swab (e.k. blackness).
